Numerous areas of retinal pigment epithelium atrophy and hyperplasia with fairly discrete borders, but without deeper involvement of the choroid. A vast majority of these lesions are inactive scars (black arrows). However, there are areas of creamy white placoid inflammatory lesions (white arrows) at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium in the mid periphery of each eye accounting for approximately 10–20% of the total lesions. No evidence for retinal vasculitis and no visible choroidal vasculitis.
