This Module facilitates and expedites vision research by providing an array of services involving microarray and molecular biology technologies. The facility also provides access to large equipment that would be impractical for a single lab to acquire or maintain.

Primary Services

• Execution and/or training of experimentation involving Module equipment and protocols
• Gene expression, statistical, analytical experiment support and analysis
• Microarray data storage (as needed)
• Maintenance/oversight of Module equipment

• Affymetrix Gene Chip Arrays: purchase, hybridization, scanning, and analysis
• Custom cDNA arrays: design, generation, hybridization, scanning and analysis
• Labeling of target RNAs for microarray experiments
• Gene expression data analysis
• Quantitative PCR
• qPCR/cloning primer design
• Baculovirus recombinant protein expression
• Subcloning for specific projects
• Other molecular biology protocols, depending on availability
