Genetic Testing for Retinoschisis

Retinoschisis screening is available through a genetic counselor, geneticist, ophthalmologist, or family physician. For more information about genetic screening for retinoschisis, contact a qualified professional in your community. Screening may be helpful for women who are at risk for carrying the gene and for males who are at risk for having retinoschisis.

For more information about juvenile retinoschisis testing and research, please contact Meira Meltzer, certified genetic counselor at the National Eye Institute at 301-402-4175.
