| Employee of the Year 2001 Since 1993 the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences has had the good fortune to have Deborah Eadie as its Research Administrator. During that time she has been called on for everything from writing a grant to getting a leaky piece of equipment fixed on the weekend to helping a foreign postdoc find housing to overseeing construction of a complete floor of complicated laboratories within the Eye Center. This is a huge job and she performs it with intelligence, efficiency, and humor. Deb received her B.S. in biology from Michigan State University and her M.S. in botany from the University of Michigan. She held research positions at both institutions and taught biology to high school students in the Ann Arbor public schools. In 1990, Deb joined the Department as a research associate doing benchwork in the labs. As the research faculty grew and it became evident that administrative leadership would be beneficial, the faculty looked to Deb as the perfect candidate for this new position. Luckily for us, it was a perfect match and we are proud to name Deborah Eadie as our 2001 Employee of the Year. |
