3rd Annual Glaucoma Screening
A Success

On the afternoon of Friday, January 19th, we held our 3rd annual Glaucoma Screening. This community health event is held as part of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and National Glaucoma Awareness Month. Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness among African Americans and we were pleased to be able to check the eye pressure and the optic nerves of 69 people. Of these, 22 were found to need further examination and were recommended for follow up care. We thank the Kellogg Eye Center staff and volunteers who were on hand to welcome these visitors to the Eye Center and screen them for glaucoma.
