Employee of the Year 2000 In a very apt symmetry, Dr. Terry Bergstrom who was named Employee of the Month for January 2000, the inaugural month of the program, was also named Employee of the Year in December. His nominators cited his willingness to listen to problems, follow up with solutions, put his staff at ease, and treat individuals as equals. His unique involvement in developing the skills and attitudes of residents and medical students has enhanced the Eye Center, the University of Michigan, and the ophthalmology profession throughout the nation as ophthalmologists who trained under Dr. Bergstrom move into their own practices throughout the country and world. His innate modesty and generous character are evidenced daily as he carries out his instincts to put others first; his patients, their families, staff, studentsliterally everyone he touches. Dr. Terry Bergstrom has been involved in every aspect of the Eye Center at some point during his tenure. A glaucoma specialist by training, Dr. Bergstrom currently sees patients in our glaucoma service.
