Dr. Lichter Will Speak on the Future of Eye Care and Vision Research
ANN ARBOR, MI - Paul R. Lichter, M.D., will talk to University of Michigan alumni in Florida about advances in eye care and vision research as part of “The Michigan Difference Seminars.”
According to Dr. Lichter, one of the most promising ideas in vision research is the transplantation of specific light-sensing cells to restore sight. “The research is still at a very early stage, but it could lead to therapies for diseases that have tremendous impact on an individual’s vision and quality of life,” says Dr. Lichter, the F. Bruce Fralick Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He will discuss that research and other innovations underway at the Kellogg Eye Center in his talk, “Blind Mice Can See, Can That Help Me?” Dr. Lichter is also Director of the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center
The seminars will be held in West Palm Beach on February 6 and in Naples on February 8. Registration information is available at www.giving.umich.edu/events.
