Mechanisms of retinal cell death during retinal diseases such as retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration and ocular inflammatory disease; particular focus is on the role of apoptosis in the death of photoreceptor cells and the development of neuroprotective therapies for preservation of retinal elements during retinal disease
