Andrea earned a B.S. in biochemistry from the Lyman Briggs School of Science at Michigan State University. Prior to joining Kellogg, she worked in the UM Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology for four years studying genetics of heart development.
Andrea joined the Petty lab in 2003 and her current research focuses on high-resolution imaging and 3-D modeling of factors involved in inflammation/phagocytosis, spatiotemporal calcium signaling pathways and cell metabolism.
Outside of work, Andrea enjoys horses (she was a 2002 Reserve World Champion on the Pinto Horse Circuit), singing and art.

Aiping received a Ph.D. from the
Chinese
Academy
of Sciences Institute of Photographic Chemistry in
Beijing

China
. His thesis focused on the synthesis of fluorescent dyes and organic photochemistry and photophysics.
Prior to coming to Kellogg, Aiping studied high-pressure photochemistry and photophysics at the
University
of
Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign and single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy at the
University
of
Kansas
.
Aiping joined the Petty laboratory in September of 2005 and currently performs separation and analysis of natural compounds with biological activity using high performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. In his spare time, Aiping enjoys gardening and fishing.
