Xiaoming earned an M.D. from Norman Bethune University of Medical Science in Changchun, Jilin Province, China and a Ph.D. from Yamaguchi University in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan. His doctoral thesis examined the effects of phospholipid on the oligomeric state of phospholamban in cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum.
Xiaoming joined the Hughes laboratory in February 2007. His research focuses on the inwardly rectifying potassium channels, especially KCNQ in the retina. Prior to coming to Kellogg, Xiaoming was a research fellow at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center.
In his spare time, Xiaoming enjoys traveling.
