Laura graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in 1991. She continued her studies first in Germany and then again at the University of Michigan, where she received her M.S. in Biology in 1996. Since then Laura has worked at the University of Michigan as a research associate, joining the Hitchcock lab in November 2001.
